TACPI Tokyo 2007 organizing members and speakers would like to thank everyone for their contributions that made the reflective and prospective discussions on dynamic changes shaping the global IP landscape worthwhile.

China, as evidenced by PetroChina’s spectacular debut at the Shanghai Stock Market, continues to demonstrate its economic fortitude as well as idiosyncrasies that will require organizations to weigh investment and expansion opportunities against business and legal risks. The points were thoughtfully raised by Professor Chen, Ms. Barner, Ms. Sun, Ms. Lee, Mr. Zhang, and Mr. Duck during the first half of the conference.

2007 is turning out to be an unprecedented banner year for those who follow and practice IP in the United States and Europe. The discussions by Mr. Katayama, Mr. Klusmann, Mr. Dzwonczyk, Ms. Barner, Mr. Agarwal, Mr. Maebius, and Mr. Wegner included a comparative analysis of the role of the "problem" in patent specification drafting in light of KSR, factors impeding progresses of the Patent Reform Bill passage, strategies to address “Rocket Docket” IP litigations in the United States, and a stunning turn of events surrounding the USPTO Claims and Continuations Rules.

The presentation materials are posted on the Agenda page of this
Web site.

We will announce the plans for TACPI 2008 in due course, and hope to see you again next year.
