There is still time to RSVP The Freedom '56 Exhibition Opening Ceremony In October 1956, the small Hungarian nation was the first to rise up against Soviet tyranny in Europe. The Hungarian Revolution was ultimately crushed by the Soviet Army, and more than 200,000 Hungarians fled the country, most going to the United States. However, the Revolution's legacy as “the first nail in the coffin of communism” remains as powerful as ever. This fall, we will celebrate this extraordinary event and show the world, especially the younger generation, the struggle and success of the Hungarian Revolutionaries' heroic fight for freedom. The Exhibition, located in the Huntington Arcade of the Prudential Center, will consist of historic and current photographs by two famous artists, Erich Lessing and Stephen Spinder, as well as testimonials from several Hungarian Freedom Fighters and a brief history of the Revolution.
